Digital Dining Adopting
Payment Application Best Practices
June 27,
2006 – Springfield, VA – Digital Dining announces that it has successfully
completed their review of its best-selling software suite and achieved
compliance with the Payment Application Best Practices (PABP) benchmark. Digital
Dining’s application review was deemed successful and a compliant report was
submitted by leading Qualified Data Security Company (QDSC), AmbironTrustWave (www.atwcorp.com)
and validated by Visa USA (www.visa.com/cisp).
This set
of best practices helps merchants of all sizes and types to protect the consumer
card holder data they store, process and transmit. The PABP benchmark is
critical to protecting cardholder data along the payment chain, and helps
safeguard consumers from theft and fraud. The PABP covers a set of 13
requirements that every POS application developer should follow to maintain a
high level of security within their applications. Visa USA's PABP standards:
·
Do not retain
full magnetic stripe or CVV2 data
·
Protect stored
data
·
Provide secure
password features
·
Log application
activity
·
Develop secure
applications
·
Protect wireless
transmissions
·
Test applications
to address vulnerabilities
·
Facilitate secure
network implementation
·
For
Internet-based applications, store cardholder data in internal network only
·
Facilitate secure
remote software updates
·
Facilitate secure
remote access to application
·
Encrypt sensitive
traffic over public networks
·
Encrypt internal
administrative access
Digital
Dining is known in the industry as the pioneer of PC-based point-of-sale

continued commitment to all its users: from small independent restaurants, to
large chain accounts, casinos and racetracks.
Andre
Nataf, Digital Dining business development manager said, “When Digital Dining

go with the industry leader. After doing our research we found that

our partnership decision. Digital Dining feels strongly about supporting the
card associations’ drive to protect merchants and cardholders.”
Robert
McCullen, CEO of AmbironTrustWave adds, “In keeping with its leadership
position in the industry, Digital Dining is taking a proactive step with its
adoption of the Payment Application Best Practice standard. Their certification
will differentiate them from the marketplace and help to secure restaurant
transactions.”
